Each appointment will take roughly 30-60 minutes. One of our highly trained clinicians will carry out the assessment. Once they have removed some wax the hearing screening can be performed if requested. During the examination, high-definition images and videos will be taken. This will identify any hearing issues and whether or not you may require further treatment from specialist doctors. In most cases, however, the initial problem is simply the presence of excessive wax. If this is the case, a fast & painless micro-suction procedure can be performed to clear the ear of any debris or built-up wax. This procedure could immediately improve hearing capabilities. In some instances, it is not possible to remove all the wax during one appointment due to either the amount, or the level of impaction. In these situations a follow up appointment may be required.
Ear Microsuction is the safest and most effective way to remove earwax. It works by inserting a low-pressure suction probe into the ear. The probe will be controlled by one of our trained clinicians who will be able to see clearly into the ear canal to remove the wax. Please note, this procedure is only available for adults. For under 18s, please contact the pharmacy who will be happy to offer support and guidance.
This procedure is painless and does not involve water being squirted into your ear canal as syringing does. It is a simple and clean procedure, however we recommend softening the wax for 5 days prior to your appointment to ease the removal process. Our trained clinician will then be able to advise on whether a follow-up/aftercare appointment is necessary. If this is required, a follow-up appointment can be booked.
